What You'll Learn: From the Potter's Wheel to Handbuilding
This ceramics course is tailored to your creative goals. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I will personally guide you through choices of:
Wheel Throwing Fundamentals: Learn the mindful practice of centering clay, throwing foundational shapes like cylinders and bowls, and developing your unique style on the potter's wheel. This is a key focus for anyone searching for a wheel throwing class in Albany.
Creative Handbuilding Techniques: Explore the organic freedom of pinch pots, the rhythmic art of coiling, and the architectural possibilities of slab building. Perfect for creating functional pottery or sculptural art.
Surface Decoration & Design: Your ceramic work is a canvas. We'll explore ways for adding personality with slips, underglazes, carving, and textures to make your pieces truly one-of-a-kind.
The Magic of Glazing: Gain a practical understanding of glaze application. Learn how to choose and apply glazes to achieve stunning, food-safe finishes on your creations, and have the use of my own unique glazes. (produced and refined by me!)
