Limited Availability

Clay Explorations: A 9-Week Pottery Journey

Step into my welcoming Albany artist studio and discover the joy of creating with clay. I hope to create a pottery classe for the perfect weekday escape, offering a an inspiring alternative to larger, more crowded term classes.

I specialise in providing a personalised experience, keeping classes small with only 8 spots available. This ensures you receive dedicated, one-on-one guidance, whether you're a complete beginner eager to learn the basics of pottery or an intermediate student wanting to refine your skills in the North Shores’ most intimate ceramics setting.

Term 3, 2025 Course Details

This all-inclusive course is designed to take you from initial idea to finished, glazed piece.

  • What: 9-Week Mixed Pottery Course (Handbuilding & Wheel Throwing)

  • Dates: Wednesday, 16 July – Tuesday, 10 September 2025

  • Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

  • Location: Unit A2 - 8 Henry Rose Place, Albany

  • Includes: Expert tuition, 8kgs of assorted clays, clay tools, and the complete glazing and firing of your work.

What You'll Learn: From the Potter's Wheel to Handbuilding

This ceramics course is tailored to your creative goals. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I will personally guide you through choices of:

  • Wheel Throwing Fundamentals: Learn the mindful practice of centering clay, throwing foundational shapes like cylinders and bowls, and developing your unique style on the potter's wheel. This is a key focus for anyone searching for a wheel throwing class in Albany.

  • Creative Handbuilding Techniques: Explore the organic freedom of pinch pots, the rhythmic art of coiling, and the architectural possibilities of slab building. Perfect for creating functional pottery or sculptural art.

  • Surface Decoration & Design: Your ceramic work is a canvas. We'll explore ways for adding personality with slips, underglazes, carving, and textures to make your pieces truly one-of-a-kind.

  • The Magic of Glazing: Gain a practical understanding of glaze application. Learn how to choose and apply glazes to achieve stunning, food-safe finishes on your creations, and have the use of my own unique glazes. (produced and refined by me!)
